What is the Family Assistance Fund?
The NSW Department of Aging Disability and Home Care (DADHC) established this fund for individual families with disabled young people under 18 years to purchase services or equipment to help care for a child at home.
The Regional Director of Metro North region has suggested that families from NSW could apply through their DADHC regional office for funds to assist the parents to attend the ATSS Family Conference in November at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick.

  • Training to improve caring skills
  • Counseling or other forms of personal support for family members, including siblings

Priority will be given to:

  • Families on low to moderate incomes ($62 647 or less)
  • Where the child has multiple or complex medical or behavioural needs,
  • Where the care of the disabled young person is having a significant impact on the wellbeing of their siblings,
  • Families with little or no access to extended family or local support,
  • Families living in geographically isolated areas
